Savaiye in Praise of Guru Angad, Verse 3 — a lotus resting calm on the water

You hold tight to the Naam of the Endless One, and your goodness spreads far and clean. You are a support for seekers, for wise ones, and for gentle people.
You are like the wise King Janak of old. Your Word is precious all through the world. You live in the world like a lotus resting on the water, clean and calm.
Like a healing tree, you cure sickness and take away the world's pain. Every part of the soul is tuned to you alone.
Kal Sahaar says: sing the praise of Lehnaa through all seven continents. He met the One and became the Guru of the world.
Guru Angad lives in the busy world and stays calm and clean inside. The main picture is jal padam, a lotus on the water. A lotus grows in a muddy pond. Yet its petals stay clean and dry.
Think of a kid who stays kind on a noisy, rough playground. They are right in the middle of it. And they are still fully themselves.
The verse also compares the Guru to King Janak. In old Indian stories, Janak ruled a kingdom and was wise and free inside. Then it names kalip tar, a wish-granting tree from older stories. Like that tree, the Guru heals sickness and cools the world's pain. Every part of a person's soul becomes tuned to the One alone.
The bard Kal Sahaar asks for these praises to be sung in all seven continents. Lehnaa was the Guru's name before he became Guru Angad. He met the One and became the Guru of the world.
