Savaiye in Praise of Guru Arjun (Bhatt Mathura), Verse 3 — unattached in heart, at home in a family

I ask from the one the whole world knows, who lives in the Naam and loves it, day and night.
He is completely free inside, colored with the love of the Highest One. He wants nothing for himself, and yet he lives with a family in a home.
His love is fixed on the endless, boundless First Being. Nothing else gives him joy except the One.
Mathura says: Guru Arjun is my Lord, filling everything. Devoted in worship, he stays joined with the One.
You can be free inside and still live in an ordinary family home. Guru Arjun is param ateet, completely free of clinging. Yet he is daykhee-at Dhaam si-o, seen living with a household. Think of a parent who cooks dinner, helps with homework, and still carries a deep calm inside.
The verse honors the householder, the person who lives a family life, as a full path to the One. You do not need to leave home to be close to the One. That makes everyday family life something sacred.
The bard Mathura asks from Guru Arjun, known across the world. Guru Arjun loves the Naam day and night. He is colored through with love of the One. He is baasnaa tay baahar, beyond craving. Nothing else tastes as sweet to him as the One. For Mathura, Guru Arjun shows the all-filling One, and he stays close to the One he loves.
