Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Those with true love inside them — how can they live without their Beloved?

Nanak says: the One unites with Itself those who face the Guru, though they were apart for so long.

The One brings back those who face the Guru, however long apart.
The deeper layer

Those who face the Guru, long apart from the Beloved, are brought back together by the One.

Sachaa nayhu is true love; ki-o jeevni piree vihooni-aa is the language of longing — how can they live without the Beloved? Chiree vichhunni-aa means apart for a very long time. The One does the uniting, aap, through the Guru: gurmukh maylay.

A Question to Sit With

Has anyone ever come back into your life after a long time apart?
