Without spiritual wisdom, the people worship ignorance.
ਅੰਧ ਵਰਤਾਵਾ ਭਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੨੨॥
anDh vartaavaa bhaa-o doojaa. ||22||
They grope in the darkness, in the love of duality. ||22||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Without wisdom, people worship ignorance.

They grope in the dark, loving something other than the One.

Without wisdom we honor empty things and grope in the dark.
The deeper layer

Without wisdom, people end up honoring what is empty and feeling their way in the dark.

Agi-aan poojaa: without wisdom, ignorance is what gets worshipped. AnDh vartaavaa bhaa-o doojaa: they move about blind, in bhaa-o doojaa, love for something other than the One. Gi-aan, wisdom, is the light that would end the groping.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever admired something a lot and later found it was not worth it once you understood it better?
