Savaiye in Praise of Guru Amar Das (by the bard Jaalap), Verse 14 — the peace that ends the running
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Meeting Guru Amar Das, the wrongs of the whole earth are washed away.
The Siddhas, yogis with great powers, and all the seekers long to meet Guru Amar Das.
Meeting Guru Amar Das, a person remembers the One, and the long journey comes to an end.
Meeting Guru Amar Das, you find the Fearless One, and the coming and going of birth and death is over.
Knowing the One, the pull in two directions stops, and you take the Guru's precious teaching to heart.
Jaalap says: countless treasures come from seeing Guru Amar Das.
Meeting Guru Amar Das brings what every seeker hopes for: the One, freedom from fear, and an end to the long journey.
Each line begins gur amardaas parsee-ai, "meeting Guru Amar Das," and names what follows: the earth is cleansed, seekers long for him, meditation deepens, the journey ends, and the round of birth and death is over. Knowing the One (ik binn) ends the pull of duality. The bard is Jaalap.
What does it feel like to finally arrive somewhere after a long time of rushing?
