One Real Taste of Truth Cuts the Whole Illusion
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
**F** — some fruit ripens without any showy blossom first. The most important things don't always announce themselves with flowers; sometimes they grow quietly, hidden.
If you can catch even one slice of that hidden fruit — one real taste of truth — and truly reflect on it, something in you shifts. The endless spinning wheel of coming and going slows. That single slice of understanding is powerful enough to cut through the whole illusion, to free every self caught in it. One genuine glimpse changes everything.
The letter Faffa. bin foolah fal ho-ee — the fruit forms even without a flower: the deepest realization does not need external display or ritual pageantry. taa fal fank lakhai ja-o ko-ee — if someone perceives even a fank (a slice, a fragment) of that fruit and doon na par-ee — does not fall back into the cycle of birth and rebirth. The closing line, taa fal fank sabhai tan faarai — that slice "slices all bodies" — is Kabir's vivid way of saying that a single fragment of true insight pierces the illusion of separateness for every embodied being. The imagery of cutting is transformative, not violent: it severs the veil, not the person. In line with the wellbeing lens, reincarnation here is rendered gently as the spinning wheel of coming and going, not a threat.
Has one small moment of understanding ever changed the way you saw everything?
