As the Full Moon Fills the Sky, the One Stays Steady
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
On the day of the full moon, the whole round moon fills the night sky, complete and glowing.
Its soft light spreads everywhere, gentle and full and easy — nothing forced, just quietly shining.
In the beginning, in the middle, and in the end, the One stays steady and unchanging through it all. And so Kabir rests, floating in a vast ocean of peace — held, calm, home.
Day fifteen, pooni-o — Poornima, the full moon, the culmination of the cycle. pooraa chand akaas — the full (pooraa) moon fills the sky; pasrahi kalaa sahj pargaas — its light (kalaa, radiance/power) spreads in sahj — natural, effortless ease (a key project word: the unforced poise of the aligned soul). aad ant madh ho-ay rahi-aa theer — in beginning, end and middle the One remains theer (steady, firm). sukh saagar meh rameh kabeer — Kabir is immersed (rameh) in the sukh saagar, the ocean of peace. The thitee, having walked the whole moon-cycle, culminates not on a special date but in sahj fullness and an ocean of peace — grace, not the calendar, is the destination.
When have you felt completely full and at peace, like a bright full moon on a clear night?
