My mind cannot survive - how can I meet my Beloved? ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

One moment, one day, feels to me like many days.

My mind cannot survive — how will I ever meet my Beloved?

When you long for someone deeply, a single day can feel like many.
The deeper layer

The shabad opens in the time-dilation of longing: "one day is for me many days." When you ache for someone, time stretches unbearably. The mind "cannot survive" the wait — this is viraha at full intensity, separation felt as a threat to life itself.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever waited for something so much that time seemed to crawl?
