The four watches of the day feel like the four ages of the world.
And when night comes, I fear it will never end.
Longing can make an afternoon feel like an age and a night feel endless.
The time-dilation deepens: each "watch" of the day feels like a whole yuga (cosmic age), and night seems endless. This is the lived experience of separation — not metaphor but the way longing actually warps time. The endless night is the dark of the Beloved's absence.
A Question to Sit With
Why does time seem to slow down most when we are waiting for what we want most?
