The Five Passions Gang Up to Keep You From Love

Wandering and rambling, I cry out and wring my hands. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The five demons have ganged up to keep me from my Beloved.

Wandering, lost, I cry out and wring my hands.

The five passions can gang up to keep you from what you most love.
The deeper layer

The obstacle is named: "the five demons" — the Panch Vikaar (lust, anger, greed, attachment, ego) — "have joined together to separate me from my Husband Lord." The passions are not just personal faults but active forces conspiring to keep the soul from the One. The soul "wrings its hands," helpless against them alone.

A Question to Sit With

Which inner pulls most often get between you and what truly matters to you?
