meets the Beloved Lord; the Divine Light is revealed to him. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Whoever sets the Guru's lotus feet within the heart

meets the Beloved, and the inner Light shines out.

Hold what is sacred deep in your heart, and an inner light comes on.
The deeper layer

This one is about keeping the Guru close inside, and finding a light there.

Charan kamal rid antar Dhaaray — whoever holds the lotus feet in the heart. The lotus feet are a picture of deep, humble love for the Guru. To hold them in your heart is to keep the Guru close with respect.

Pargatee jot milay raam pi-aaray — that person meets the Beloved, and the inner light shines out.

The meeting happens inside. It is like a lamp in a room. When you switch it on, the light fills the room from within, not from outside the window.

A Question to Sit With

What do you keep close in your heart that lights you up inside?
