Most Things Leave You Hungrier; This Wealth Contents You

ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨਿਖੁਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
tot na aavai nikhut na jaa-ay.
It does not run short, and it does not run out.
ਖਾਇ ਖਰਚਿ ਮਨੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਅਘਾਇ ॥੨॥
khaa-ay kharach man rahi-aa aghaa-ay. ||2||
Eating and consuming it, the mind remains satisfied. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

It never runs short and never runs out.

The more you eat of it, the more your mind is satisfied.

Most things leave you hungrier the more you consume — this wealth leaves you content.
The deeper layer

The wealth is inexhaustible and uniquely satisfying: "eating and consuming it, the mind remains satisfied." Worldly consumption breeds more hunger; this wealth, consumed, brings contentment. The more you take of the Name, the more at peace you are (cf. Shabad 87, praise that never satiates yet deepens peace).

A Question to Sit With

What leaves you more peaceful the more you take of it, not more restless?
