The True Guru, in His Pleasure, has given this gift. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My mind is held to the Lotus Feet of the One.

The true Guru, in his kindness, has given me this gift.

Even your love for what is good was placed in you as a gift.
The deeper layer

Even your love for the One is a gift.

Charan kamal si-o laago maan — my mind is held to the One's lotus feet. Holding someone's feet is an old way of showing love and trust, like a small child hugging a parent's legs. Lotus feet means feet as pure and lovely as the lotus flower.

Who gave the mind that love? Satgur toothai keeno daan — the true Guru, pleased, gave this gift. The devotion that holds the soul close to the One was itself placed there by grace. Even loving the One is something we receive.

A Question to Sit With

What good attachment in you feels less like a choice and more like a gift?
