The Guru has given Nanak this teaching:
see the One who never dies, living in each and every heart.
The Guru's crowning teaching is this: the same One lives in every heart.
Prabh abhinaasee ghat ghat cheen — recognize the Imperishable One, the One who never dies, in each and every heart. The Name held inside you points outward. The same One is inside everyone else too.
This is where equality comes from, and respect for all. Think of every lamp in a house lit from the same flame. The Light in your heart is the same Light in the heart of the person across the table. Another shabad in Raag Aasaa speaks of this same Light in every heart.
How would you treat people if you truly saw the same One in each of them?
