Cold and heat do not touch me at all, when I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

My consciousness is not affected by the witch, Maya; I take to the Sanctuary of the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Cold and heat no longer touch me when I sing the praises of the One.
The witchery of illusion has no hold on my mind — I take shelter at the Lotus Feet.
Steadied in praise, neither the cold of hard days nor the heat of good ones can toss you about.
"Cold and heat do not touch me" is equanimity — the swings of life (hardship and ease, pain and pleasure) no longer toss the soul about, because it is steadied in praise (cf. Shabad 69, praise and blame as one). And "the witch, Maya" loses its grip once the soul takes sanctuary.
A Question to Sit With
What would it feel like if neither bad news nor good news could knock you off balance?
