Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Every comfort is found in Your shelter;
the true Guru has lifted the veil of doubt.
Every real comfort is found in shelter, not in things.
This is the pause line, the Rahao, the center of the shabad. It says real comfort is found in shelter, not in things.
"All comforts are obtained in Your Shelter." Then, "the True Guru has removed the veil of doubt."
Think of a thunderstorm at night. Comfort is not having more stuff in your room. It is being held close by someone who loves you. The verse moves comfort from things to refuge. And clear sight comes when the Guru lifts doubt away, like pulling a blanket off your eyes.
A Question to Sit With
Where do you find genuine comfort that doesn't depend on owning more?
