Sikhism·Raag Aasaa·Shabad 159
Verse 3 of 5

Like the Sun and Its Light, Source and Shining at Once

ਆਪੇ ਸੂਰੁ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥
aapay soor kiran bisthaar.
He Himself is the sun, and the rays emanating from it.
ਸੋਈ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਸੋਈ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
so-ee gupat so-ee aakaar. ||2||
He is concealed, and He is revealed. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

He Himself is the sun, and the rays streaming from it.

He is hidden, and He is revealed.

Like the sun and its light, the One is the hidden source and the visible shining at once.
The deeper layer

Another image of source-and-emanation: "He Himself is the sun, and the rays emanating from it." The One is both the hidden source and the visible light it pours out — "concealed, and... revealed" at once. Hidden in essence, shown in every ray.

A Question to Sit With

How can something be both hidden and clearly shown at the same time?
