Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Everything belongs to Him — so let yourself belong to Him too.
Then no stain can cling to you.
Everything belongs to the One, so it makes sense to belong to the One too.
Jis kaa sabh kichh tis kaa ho-ay — all things are His, so become His as well. It is simple, like a team. The field, the ball and the uniforms all belong to the club. So the wisest thing a player can do is play for the club, heart and soul.
Then comes the promise: tis jan layp na bi-aapai ko-ay — no stain clings to such a person. Think of a lotus flower. It grows in muddy water, yet the mud slides right off its petals. Another shabad in Raag Aasaa uses that same lotus picture. Belonging wholly to the One keeps the heart clean in a messy world.
What might stop clinging to you if you simply gave it all to the One?
