Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
She stays asleep and never hears the news of God.
The day dawns — and then she is full of regret.
This one says don't sleep through your one big chance.
Here is the sleeping bride again, like in Shabad 51. So-ay rahee prabh khabar na jaanee — she stays asleep and never hears the news of the One. Her "night" is her whole life.
Bhor bha-i-aa bahur pachhutaanee — then the day dawns, and she is full of regret. The dawn is the moment when her life is looked back on. By then, only regret is left.
The chance was there the whole time. She simply slept through it. Think of sleeping through your alarm on the day of the big school trip. You wake up, the bus has gone, and you wish you had gotten up.
What are you in danger of 'sleeping through' that you'd regret missing?
