Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Gazing on the wonder of Your play, my mind takes heart.
Servant Nanak leans on You alone.
Seeing the world as a wonder, not a grim machine, gives the heart courage.
The close: "gazing upon the wonder of Your play, my mind has become encouraged." Seeing existence as the One's marvelous play (lila) lifts the heart — the world is not a grim machine but a wonder to behold. And so Nanak "relies on You alone".
A Question to Sit With
When has simply marveling at something lifted your spirits?
