Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Meditating on the Name, mind and body are made new again;

all sins and sorrows are washed away.

Remembrance makes the whole self new — washing away both wrongs and sorrows.
The deeper layer

This one says remembering the Name makes the whole self feel new.

Naam japat man tan sabh hari-aa — "saying the Name, mind and body turn green again." Hari-aa means green, like a plant after rain. Kalmal dokh sagal parhari-aa — every wrong and every sorrow is washed away.

Picture a dry plant on a windowsill. You water it, and in a day it stands up green again. Remembering the One does not only calm you down. It makes you new, and it washes away wrongdoing and sadness together.

A Question to Sit With

What makes you feel genuinely renewed, body and mind?
