In plain words

He is never far from us, wherever we go.

When He shows His mercy, we find Him. I offer this prayer to the perfect Guru: Nanak begs for the treasure of the Name.

Wherever you go, the One is already there — never far.
The deeper layer

This one is about the One being near, wherever you go.

Door na ho-ee kathoo jaa-ee-ai — the One is never far, wherever we go. However far the soul travels, the One is already there.

Think of the moon on a car trip. You drive for hours, look out the window, and the moon is still right there with you.

Nadar karay taa har har paa-ee-ai — when the One looks on us with kindness, we find the One. Finding is a gift of mercy.

So Nanak makes one prayer to the perfect Guru, the true teacher. Naanak mangai har Dhan raas — Nanak asks for the treasure of the Name.

A Question to Sit With

Where have you gone looking for something that was with you the whole way?
