I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to that True Guru. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

First the pains of the body vanish; then the mind becomes completely at peace.

In His mercy, the Guru gives the Name.

I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to that true Guru.

Healing the Name brings reaches the body first, then settles deep into the mind.
The deeper layer

This one says the Name heals in order, body first, then mind.

First the pains of the body go away. Then the mind becomes fully at peace. It comes from the Guru's mercy, for the Guru gives the Name. The Name heals from the outside in.

Think of getting over a fever. First the body stops aching. Then your mind can rest too.

And then thanks pour out. bal bal — I give myself, again and again, to that true Guru.

A Question to Sit With

What kind of peace settles in once a long pain finally lifts?
