The Guru has given shelter to the shelterless, and honor to the dishonored.
Shattering his bonds, the Guru has saved His servant; with my tongue I taste the nectar-sweet Word.
This one says the Guru's grace goes to the lowest first.
The Guru gives shelter to those with no shelter. The Guru gives honor to those with no honor. Some people have nowhere to go and no standing in the world. They are exactly the ones the Guru takes in and lifts up.
Think of a new kid sitting alone at lunch. Grace is the friend who walks over and sits right beside them. Grace looks for the left-out. (See also Shabad 186, the orphan made a queen.)
