Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

By great good fortune, I worship the Guru's feet.

Letting go of everything, I have found God's sanctuary.

Says Nanak: the humble one who receives the Guru's mercy is filled with joy forever.

Let go of everything else, and you make room for the one shelter that lasts.
The deeper layer

This one says letting go makes room for the One's shelter.

sagal ti-aag — letting go of everything else — the soul finds God's shelter. Think of hands full of toys. You have to put them down before you can take someone's hand.

And the one who receives the Guru's mercy is filled with joy forever. That joy lasts, and it is given by grace.

A Question to Sit With

What would you need to set down to make room for what matters most?
