Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I am a sacrifice to my Master.

Meditating on Him, a great joy wells up in my mind and body.

Joy isn't manufactured — it wells up on its own when the One is held in mind.
The deeper layer

This one says joy is not something you build; it rises up by itself.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad, the hymn. Hovai anad ghanaa man tan jaapnay — remembering the One, great joy (anad) fills my mind and body.

The joy is not made in a factory. It rises on its own when the One is held in mind. Think of a spring in the ground. Nobody pumps it; the water just bubbles up. Joy is the natural overflow of that presence. That is why the verse begins ha-o vanjaa kurbaan — I give myself to my Master.

A Question to Sit With

What good feeling rises in you naturally, without you forcing it?
