Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
He is beyond the world of the Vedas, the Koran, and the Bible.
The Supreme King of Nanak is present everywhere, and clearly manifest.
This one says the One is bigger than any holy book.
Bayd katayb sansaar habhaa hoo baahraa — He is beyond the whole world of the Vedas and the Katebs. The Vedas are ancient Hindu scriptures. The Katebs are the holy books of the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim faiths, like the Bible and the Quran. The One belongs to no single one of them alone.
This is not putting any book down. Think of a house with many windows, each showing the same sky. No window holds the whole sky. The One is larger than every text.
And yet disai jaahraa — the One is plainly seen, present everywhere, shining through everything. A truth bigger than any single book is also close enough to see.
If the One is bigger than any single scripture, what does that say about how traditions relate?
