Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are my support, O merciful Lord, sustainer of the world.

You are the Master of all; the entire creation is Yours.

Too poor to commend yourself, you can still lean wholly on the One who owns everything.
The deeper layer

This is the pause line, the center of the shabad. The soul puts its whole weight on the One.

Tayree tayk govind gupaal da-i-aal parabh — "You are my support, kind Lord, Keeper of the world." Toon sabhnaa kay naath tayree sarisat sabh — "You are the Master of all; the whole creation is Yours."

In the line before, the soul felt it had nothing to offer. Here it finds the answer. It does not need to be good enough on its own. It leans on the One who holds everything. Think of a little kid asleep in the back seat on a long drive. They do not steer or read the map. They just trust. That is enough.

A Question to Sit With

What does it mean to lean fully on something far greater than yourself?
