Choose the Work That Lights Your Face From Within

So, do that work, by which your face shall be made radiant.

He alone becomes attached to the Truth, O Lord, unto whom You give it. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

So do that work by which your face shall be made radiant.

Only that one becomes attached to the Truth, Lord, to whom You give it.

Choose the work that lights your face from within, not the work that dims you.
The deeper layer

A practical question: "do that work, by which your face shall be made radiant." Choose the actions that light you up from within — the deeds that lead toward the One — rather than those that dim you. Yet even attachment to Truth is "given" by the One; the choosing and the grace work together.

A Question to Sit With

Which of your activities leave your face radiant, and which leave it dim?
