Enshrine the One Lord within your consciousness; He shall never die. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

So build and adorn that house which shall never be destroyed.

Enshrine the One within your consciousness — the One who shall never die.

Build your life on the One thing that never dies, and your house cannot fall.
The deeper layer

The central image: "build and adorn that house, which shall never be destroyed." Do not invest your life in the perishable (the tree's shade, the sandy shore of Shabad 172); build the one house that lasts — by "enshrining the One Lord within," the One "who shall never die." Build on the deathless, and your house cannot fall.

A Question to Sit With

What are you building your life on — and will it still be standing later?
