Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You may dress and eat and rub scented oils on your body.
But without remembering the One, your body will surely turn to dust. And you will have to leave.
All the care you give the body can't change its end — only remembrance prepares the soul.
This one says all the care we give the body cannot change its end.
We dress it, feed it, and rub sweet oils on it. But without simran, remembering the One, the body will surely turn to dust. Think of polishing a bike every day, but never learning to ride it. The shine does not take you anywhere.
All the pampering puts nothing off. Only remembering the One gets the soul ready for the leaving that will come.
A Question to Sit With
What preparation matters for the one journey no one avoids?
