In plain words

Take wisdom and humility as your supplies, and burn away the poison of pride.

True is that shop, and perfect the transaction: deal only in the merchandise of the Name.

Stock wisdom and humility, burn off pride, and deal only in the Name — the one good that never loses value.
The deeper layer

Life is like a market, and there is one good worth trading in: the Name.

Guru Arjan speaks like a trader getting ready for a trip. Pack wisdom and humility as your supplies. Burn off "the poison of pride," haumai, the swollen sense of me-first.

Then trade in the one true shop, where every deal is fair. "Deal only in the merchandise of the Naam," the Name. Think of a game store where prices jump up and down every week. The Name is the one thing whose value never drops. Other Aasaa shabads use this same picture of trade.

A Question to Sit With

What 'supplies' would you want for the journey of your life?
