Grace Clothes the Soul in Truth, Not Finery

Bestowing His Mercy, God has dressed me, and decorated me with the Truth. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I fall at the feet of the true Guru, who has dispelled my doubts.

Showing mercy, God has dressed me and decorated me with Truth.

Grace clothes the soul not in finery but in Truth itself.
The deeper layer

The Pause: the Guru "dispelled my doubts," and God "has dressed me, and decorated me with the Truth." The soul is adorned with Truth itself — not worldly finery but Truth as its garment (cf. Shabad 98, Shabad 143, the soul adorned by the Beloved). Grace clothes the soul in what is real.

A Question to Sit With

What would it mean to be 'dressed in truth' rather than in appearances?
