The One Takes You by the Hand and Makes You Its Own

ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਚੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ॥

Taking me by the hand, He made me His own, through the True Order of His Command.
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦਿਤੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਸਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
jo parabh ditee daat saa pooran vadi-aa-ee. ||2||
That gift which God gave to me, is perfect greatness. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Taking me by the hand, He made me His own, through the True Order of His Command.

The gift God gave me is perfect greatness.

The One takes you by the hand and makes you its own — that is the perfect gift.
The deeper layer

The hands-on grace again: "taking me by the hand, He made me His own" (cf. Shabad 98, Shabad 187) — through "the True Order of His Command" (Hukam). And the gift is "perfect greatness" — not a small favor but the fullness of the One's grace. Taken by the hand, made His own.

A Question to Sit With

When were you 'taken by the hand' and made to belong somewhere?
