In plain words

Attached to falsehood, clinging to the fleeting, they are trapped in attachment to illusion.

Wherever they go, they never think of the One; they are blinded by the pride of their own intellect.

Pride in your own cleverness can blind you just as much as any craving.
The deeper layer

Being proud of how clever you are can blind you, just like any other craving.

Mithi-aa sang sang laptaa-ay — people wrap themselves around what is false and what does not last. Moh maa-i-aa kar baaDhay — they get tied up in clinging to Maya, the shiny pull of the world. That part is easy to spot.

The surprise comes next. AhaN-buDh bha-ay aaNDhay — they are blinded by pride in their own mind. Think of a student so sure they are the smartest in class that they stop listening. They miss the answer that is right in front of them. Clever pride and plain grabbing end up in the same place. Wherever such people go, they never think of the One.

A Question to Sit With

Has being sure you were right ever blinded you to something important?
