To One Who Wants Love, No Treasure Tempts

ਕਨਿਕ ਮਾਣਿਕ ਗਜ ਮੋਤੀਅਨ ਲਾਲਨ ਨਹ ਨਾਹ ਨਹੀ ॥੧॥
kanik maanik gaj motee-an laalan nah naah nahee. ||1||
Gold, jewels, giant pearls and rubies - I have no need for them. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Gold, jewels, giant pearls, and rubies —

I have no need for them.

To the one who wants love, the world's treasures aren't even a temptation.
The deeper layer

The first renunciation: wealth — "gold, jewels, giant pearls and rubies" — held up and set aside, "I have no need for them." The soul that wants the Beloved's love finds the world's treasures simply unnecessary; they are not even a temptation.

A Question to Sit With

What loses its pull entirely when you have what you most love?
