Verse 3 of 4

Liberation Can Be as Simple as Good Company

ਏਹ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਏਹ ਜੁਗਤਾ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
ayh muktaa ayh jugtaa raakho sant sangaahi. ||2||
This is liberation, and this is the best way of life; please, keep me in the Society of the Saints. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

This is liberation, and this is the best way of life:

please keep me in the Society of the Saints.

Liberation can be as simple as being kept in good company.
The deeper layer

Being set free can be as simple as staying in good company.

Ayh muktaa ayh jugtaa — this is freedom, and this is the best way to live. And what is "this"? Raakho sant sangaahi — keep me in the company of the Saints. The Saints are good, loving people who remember the One.

Freedom here is not some faraway, mysterious state. It is plain and close. Think of a class where your friends work hard and are kind. You start to do the same without even trying. Being kept among holy, good people is itself the freedom, and itself the best life.

A Question to Sit With

What company would you most want to be kept in for life?
