Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

That love is forever fresh and new

which is for the Beloved.

Love for the One never grows stale — it stays forever fresh and new.
The deeper layer

Love for the One never gets old.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Oh nayhu navaylaa — that love is always fresh and new. Apunay pareetam si-o laag rahai — the love that stays joined to the Beloved.

Many things we love wear out. A new toy is exciting for a week and then sits in a drawer. A new game gets boring once we have played it a hundred times.

Love for the One is different. It stays fresh, like the first morning of summer holidays, every single day. It is the one love that does not fade as it becomes familiar.

A Question to Sit With

What love in your life feels as fresh now as when it began?
