In plain words

Only one's true friends mourn one's death;

those under the three dispositions mourn on and on. Disregard pain and pleasure; center your mind on the One, and dedicate body and mind to His Love.

Steady your mind beyond pleasure and pain, and the endless cycle of grief loosens.
The deeper layer

This one says to keep your mind steady, beyond happy days and hard days.

Trai gun are the "three qualities" that make up the whole natural world: calm, restless and dull. People caught in them keep mourning, neetaa neet, day after day.

The verse points to a steadier way. Dukh sukh parhar sahj sucheet — set aside pain and pleasure, and keep your mind on the One. Sahaj means a deep, easy calm. And tan man sa-opa-o — give your body and mind to the One's love.

Think of a boat with a heavy keel under it. Waves rock it up and down, but it does not tip over. A mind resting in the One stays steady like that. That steadiness ends the endless circle of grief.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to meet both joy and sorrow with the same steady heart?
