By His great power He holds up the earth and the sky. He turns the outgoing mind around.
Guru Nanak is saying: the One is everywhere, and gently turns the wandering mind back home.
Panch teen nav chaar samaavai — five, three, nine, four: the One fills them all. That means the five elements, the three worlds, the nine regions and the four directions. In plain words, there is no place without the One. The One also holds up Dharan gagan, the earth and the sky, by great power.
And then a tender kind of power: baahar jaata-o ulat paraavai — the mind that runs outward, He turns back around. The mind keeps chasing Maya, the shiny pull of the world. Think of a kite pulled back in by its string. The One reels the mind home, back toward Himself.
