And some are householders — working, serving, seeking — who stay attached to the Guru's Teachings.
They hold fast to the Name, to giving, to inner cleansing; they remain awake in devotion to the One.
After all those other doors, the one that opens is the front door of an ordinary home.
Ik girhee — some are householders. They have jobs, families and chores. Sayvak saaDhikaa — they serve and they seek. And they hold on to the Guru's teachings.
They keep naam daan isnaan — the Name, giving to others, and keeping the heart clean. And they jaagay, they stay awake in love for the One. Everything the forest seekers and scholars were chasing shows up here, inside everyday life. Think of a family dinner where someone says thanks, someone shares, and everyone helps clean up. This is grihast, the householder's life, as the Gurus taught it. It is not second best for people who could not leave. It is the very place where the One is found.
What would it look like to make your regular daily life — school, chores, family — a spiritual practice?
