In plain words

Through the Guru, the Gate of the Lord's Home is found — that place is finally recognized.

Nanak does not forget the Name; his mind has surrendered to the True One.

The Gate was never in any of the four directions — it is recognized, like home.
The deeper layer

The door to the One's home is not found far away. It is recognized, the way you recognize home.

Gur tay dar ghar jaanee-ai — through the Guru, the door of the One's home is known. So jaa-ay sinjaanai — and that place is recognized. That word matters. You do not discover your own home. You know it the moment you see it. The place was never strange. The seeker was the one who had wandered.

Think of coming back from a long trip and turning onto your own street. Everything says, "You're home." Then the ending keeps the wish from earlier in the shabad. Back then it was a prayer: may I never forget the Name. Now it has come true: naanak naam na veesrai — Nanak does not forget the Name. The search began with "no one is mine." It ends with a heart that has given itself to the One who truly is.

A Question to Sit With

When have you recognized something as right — not learned it, but recognized it?
