By His Command, through destiny's joining, you came into this world — so walk forever with His Will.
Grant virtue to Nanak, the virtueless one; bless him with the glorious greatness of the Truth.
This one ends with folded hands.
You came into this world by Hukam, the One's Will, and by sanjog, the joining that destiny arranged. So walk with the Will all the way, from arriving to leaving.
Then comes the way Gurbani so often ends. Guru Nanak has just said that the one who knows the self is the Supreme Soul. Now he folds his hands. He calls himself "the virtueless one" and asks for virtue.
These two are not in conflict. They are the same truth seen from both sides. Think of a cup. Only an empty cup can be filled. Only the empty ask, and only the empty are filled.
