He Himself administers justice, as it pleases His Will. ||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The True One Himself plants true love in the truthful.

He Himself administers justice, as it pleases His Will.

Even your love for the True One was planted by the True One — grace beneath the grace.
The deeper layer

Even our love for the One was planted by the One.

Sachay sachaa nayhu sachai laa-i-aa. Nayhu means love. The True One has planted true love in the truthful. Love for the One is not something we grew all alone. The One is the gardener.

Earlier in this shabad, the singer asked for the gift of service. Now we learn that even the love behind that asking was planted by the One. It is grace underneath grace.

The second line adds fairness: aapay karay ni-aa-o. Ni-aa-o means justice. The One judges fairly, as the One wills. Think of a good coach who loves the team and is also fair to every player. Love and fairness come from the same hands.

A Question to Sit With

Where did your love for what is good come from? Trace it back as far as you can.
