Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You are the Creator; all that is, is Your making. What can any mortal do alone?

Only the one on whom You cast Your Glance is absorbed into the Truth.

The mortal cannot storm the Truth — but can stand where the Glance is known to fall.
The deeper layer

This one says we cannot force our way to Truth, but we can stand where grace falls.

too kartaa kee-aa sabh tayraa — You are the Maker, and everything is Your making. ki-aa ko karay paraanee — what can any person do on their own? The doer, the doing, and the deed all come from the One.

This does not mean "don't try." Trying is real. But even our trying is made of the One's gifts. Think of a kite. You run and pull the string, and that matters. But it is the wind that lifts it.

To be taken into the Truth comes by nadar, the One's loving Glance. No trick can force it. So our part is to stand where the Glance falls: near the Guru, with the Sangat, the good company, and inside the Word.

A Question to Sit With

What is the difference between giving up and giving over?
