In plain words

The happy soul-brides are dyed in Truth — the Guru's Word is their adornment.

And they find the Beloved in their own home, reflecting on the True Word.

The Beloved was never at the end of a journey — He is at your own hearth, behind one act of attention.
The deeper layer

Guru Amar Das says the Beloved was never at the end of a long journey. He is right at home.

The first verse puts two big discoveries together. The soul is pictured as a bride. Her real beauty is the Shabad, the Guru's Word, not jewelry. And her Beloved lives ghar hee, right in her own home.

She does not travel to the wedding. She turns around in her own kitchen, and He is there. He always was. Think of looking all over for your glasses while they sit on your head. All the searching folds into one act of paying attention. That act is thinking deeply on the True Word, right where she already stands.

A Question to Sit With

What might you find at home — in your own ordinary life — if you looked with full attention?
