In plain words

Remember the Highest One, O beloved heart. Just to catch a glimpse of that One, I would give away everything I have.

Real longing is willing to give up a great deal just for one true glimpse.
The deeper layer

This one says real longing would give up a lot just to see the One.

This begins the Birharray, the "songs of missing someone." They are sung to a slow, aching tune. Every verse is short. And every verse calls out pi-aaray — "O Beloved" — like a name said again and again by someone who misses you.

First comes simree-ai — remember, keep the One in mind. Then the size of the love. Darsan ka-o bal jaa-o — I would give myself up just to see You. Darsan means a glimpse of someone you love.

Think of a child whose parent has been away on a long trip. At the airport, the child would trade every toy just to see that face come through the door. The whole set of songs sounds like that: a heart leaning toward someone it cannot see yet.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you would happily give up to be near what you love most?
