When Someone Becomes Your Life, You Ache to See Them

sundar sughar sujaan parabh mayraa jeevan daras dikhaa-ay. ||2||
God is so Beautiful, so Refined, so Wise - He is my very life! Reveal to me Your Darshan! ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My One is so beautiful, so gentle and graceful, so deeply wise — that One is my whole life! Please, let me see You.

When someone becomes your very life, being apart isn't just lonely — you ache to see them.
The deeper layer

When someone is your whole life, you ache to see them.

Sundar sughar sujaan — beautiful, graceful, wise. The singer piles up praise, the way you do when words cannot hold how you feel.

Then comes the big step. Prabh mayraa jeevan — my One is my very life. Not something that makes life better. Life itself.

And so the plea follows: daras dikhaa-ay, show me Your face. When someone is your life, being apart is not just lonely. It is like being kept from breathing. Think of hugging a grandparent at the airport after a long time away. The praise and the plea come out together, in one breath.

A Question to Sit With

Who or what feels so dear to you that you light up just at the thought of them?
