Verse 14 of 36

What You Look For Out There Already Lives Inside

ਞੰਞੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਾ ਦੇਖਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
njanjai nadar karay jaa daykhaa doojaa ko-ee naahee.
Nyanya: When the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, then I do not behold any other.
ਏਕੋ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਭ ਥਾਈ ਏਕੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੧੩॥
ayko rav rahi-aa sabh thaa-ee ayk vasi-aa man maahee. ||13||
The One Lord is totally pervading everywhere; the One Lord abides within the mind. ||13||

In plain words

The moment kindness looks your way, you stop seeing everything as separate and apart.

One presence is spread through the whole world — and that same presence lives right inside your mind.

What you look for out in the world is the very same presence already living inside you.
The deeper layer

The letter Nyanya describes the shift that grace brings: under the nadar (Glance of Grace), na day-ee avar na bhaal — you no longer look elsewhere, no longer see 'others' as truly other. The reason follows: eko rav rahi-aa — One presence fills everywhere and abides within the mind. The outer 'everywhere' and the inner 'within you' turn out to be the same presence. What grace really opens is not a far-off vision but the recognition that what you were seeking out there was also right here, inside.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you notice a sense of quiet presence — out in the world, or somewhere inside you?
