The One I love is playful and full of delight. When I hold that love close in my heart, it comes flooding warmly back to me.
When the meeting finally happens, it feels like a home strung with lights and filled to the brim with sweetness — and just looking at the One I love, my whole heart lights up with joy.
A Chhant is a lyrical wedding-song, and this one uses the old and tender image of the soul as a bride longing for her Beloved (the One). Right away the tone is warm and even playful — piri sadaa rangeela — the Beloved is full of delight, not stern. And love here is mutual: when the heart enshrines great love, the Beloved loves her in return. The 'bed decorated' and 'seven pools filled with nectar' are the old poetry's way of saying the whole self, inside and out, is filled with sweetness when the meeting comes. What a child can feel here is simple: love given wholeheartedly comes flooding back, and being near what you love fills you with light.
Who or what fills your whole heart with light just by being near?
